Impact
In the months since our founding, we have made great strides in achieving our goals and reaching out to community members in need across the nation. Since our first official meeting in August, we have hosted multiple seminars that not only inform our members of the ways that SAMIPP can benefit them, but that also educate about the effects of mental illness on student athletes and how we can address and overcome these issues together.
In partnering with the LPGA Foundation USGA Girls Golf E-Leaders, we were able to expand SAMIPP from a local project to the national level. This opportunity allowed us to spread awareness about our cause to a vast network of student athletes, which has facilitated future partnerships to continue our outreach.
Our most recent fundraisers included a bake sale, a partnership with Chipotle, and a Suicide prevention 5K Walk in which 20% of our proceeds were donated to the American Foundation for Suicide Precention. We have many more events underway that will help us further our mission including an upcoming partnership with Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream in Pinecrest Miami, Florida.
The funds we raise are cycled directly back into SAMIPP, furthering our autonomy to reach as many in need as possible. Through a vast network of partnerships with licensed mental health professionals, sports leaders, and local organizations, we are making communities aware of the valuable resources available to them through SAMIPP and extending our outreach to eventually support student athletes in need on an international scale.
