SAMIPP’s Story

SAMIPP began as a dream to make every step between classes feel lighter; to be the push of support when going to practice weighs down on your shoulders; and to place a warm hand on your back when every spare minute between juggling obligations feels like it’s ticking away at superspeed.

Attending a rigorous dual-enrollment program and performing as a dual sport athlete, our founder, Tatiana Santacoloma experienced the pressures that student athletes face first-hand. As one of the demographics most vulnerable to mental health struggles, Tatiana saw the need to create a forum focused on providing mental health support to student athletes. Now, through national seminars, fundraisers, education, and conversations, what started as a dream of creating an extensive support system for student athletes struggling with mental illness has become a reality.

SAMIPP began as a recovery story. One that hopes to aid the student athlete community throughout their own recovery in empowering themselves by taking control of their mental health struggles and opening their minds to the truth that asking for help is a sign of strength.
